Hinsdale Fire and Police Open House Set For Saturday, October 12
Monday, October 7, 2019 Hinsdale, Ill. – The Village of Hinsdale Police and Fire Department’s Annual Open House will be held on Saturday, October 12, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Village’s Fire and Police Departments, 121 Symonds Drive. The theme for this year’s Open House is “Not every hero wears a cape. Plan and practice your escape™,” which recognizes the everyday people who motivate their households to develop and practice a home fire escape plan; these seemingly basic behaviors can have life-saving impact.
Come join police officers and firefighters for an array of activities that the whole family can learn from and enjoy. Activities include demonstrations on various firefighting equipment, the fire safety trailer and interactive programs for children. The Fire Department will also conduct a simulated live burn to demonstrate the advantages of a residential sprinkler system. Police activities include a SWAT team demonstration, crime prevention programming, community notification tools, a Drone, K-9 and other specialized equipment within the Police Department. Police Department tours will also be conducted.
Additionally, the Fire Department has arranged for Fox Valley Fire and Safety to check fire extinguishers from your home or small business free of charge. If the check indicates that service is necessary, then representatives will be on hand to answer any questions or assist you further in making sure that your fire extinguisher is properly maintained and serviceable. There is a three fire extinguisher limit per person. Residents may purchase new extinguishers or have them serviced at this time.
