All vehicles registered in the State of Illinois with a Hinsdale address must also be registered with the Village through the purchase of a vehicle license sticker. The sale of vehicle stickers begins on March 1st each year and stickers must be displayed by May 1st. Vehicle stickers purchased after May 1st will assess a $ 25.00 late fee per sticker. Vehicles not displaying the current year’s vehicle sticker are also subject to a citation.

Senior Citizens who are age 65 or older at the time of purchase are eligible for a 50% discount ($24.00). Limit one per senior citizen and two per household. NOTE: Vehicle stickers for those senior citizens taking advantage of the discount first time must be purchased IN PERSON at Village Hall (19 E. Chicago Ave.) as a current driver’s license is required at the time of purchase to document eligibility for the discount.
Stickers which are lost or stolen may be replaced by purchasing a duplicate sticker at a cost of $2.00.
You will receive your 2023-2024 vehicle sticker in the mail in approximately five business days once you complete your online renewal. Residents will still have the ability to walk in Village Hall during the hours of 9:00 am – 4:00 pm Monday through Friday or buy vehicle stickers via mail.

How or where can I purchase my vehicle sticker this year?
There are four ways to purchase vehicle stickers this year:
1.) You may purchase a sticker in person at Village Hall (19 E. Chicago Ave.) between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Village accepts cash, credit or debit cards, check or money orders.
2.) You may mail us your completed application along with a check for the correct amount. Your stickers will be mailed to you. Customers typically receive their stickers within one week of purchase.
3.) You may use the secure lockbox located in the circle drive next to the library book return. There is also a drop box next to the front door of the Village Hall (19 E. Chicago Ave.). Vehicle stickers for first time seniors may not be purchased online as a current driver’s license is required at the time of purchase in order to verify eligibility for the discount.
The display deadline is May 1st. Will I get a ticket if I purchase my sticker online but haven't yet received it?
The Hinsdale Police Department enforces the May 1st purchase/display deadline with the mailing delay being taken into consideration. This way, customers will have time to purchase online all the way up to May 1st. Online purchases made AFTER May 1st could result in a citation being issued if the vehicle is observed parked on a Village street or parking lot without a valid sticker displayed.
I sold my car and bought a new vehicle. Can I re-use my current sticker?
No. A replacement sticker can be obtained for $2.00 from Village Hall.

Yes. The ordinance requires that a sticker be purchased for all vehicles currently registered to an address in Hinsdale. You can provide the vehicle information (make, model, year, plate number) at the time of purchase, either online during the regular season or at any time in person at Village Hall, 19 E. Chicago Avenue between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Can I transfer my sticker from one vehicle to another?
In the event that youare disposing of one vehicle, you are allowed to transfer the sticker from the original vehicle to the replacement vehicle. If possible, scrape off the old sticker and bring it to Village Hall for a replacement and to update your record with us. The cost of the replacement sticker is currently $ 2.00.
