Integrated Pest Management

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is the control of insects, disease, weeds and other pests through environmentally sensitive practices. The Village of Hinsdale adopted an IPM policy on November 21, 1995. The policy states that the Village must maintain quality flora while limiting adverse effects on people and the environment. The Village has developed a diverse program in order to manage a large scope of pests. IPM encompasses the following management programs: turf maintenance, sustainable landscaping, prairie maintenance, tree preservation and mosquito abatement. On occasion, the Village, utilizes chemical pesticides to control pests. The Village recognizes resident concerns regarding the use of chemical pesticides on public property. A Citizen Registry has been created to notify residents if any chemical pesticide will be applied on public property.
