The Citizen Police Academy is a free 11-week program, designed to give residents and citizens working in Hinsdale a better understanding of Law Enforcement and the Hinsdale Police Department. Each week provides an in-depth view of different topics, including specialties and departments within the Hinsdale Police Department. This course also provides citizens with an understanding of modern police procedures and an inside look at the challenges officers face while serving the community.

The course will include classroom instruction, interactive discussions, and hands-on practical exercises with a focus on various aspects of police work. Course topics include investigations, forensics, traffic stops, training, specialty teams, critical incidents, law, and more.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and must live or work within the Village of Hinsdale.  All applicants must complete and return the application, waiver, and photo release form.  The Hinsdale Police Department reserves the right to exclude any applicant from consideration or participation.  If you are interested in applying for the program but live in a neighboring town, please contact Officer Kowal.

If you are interested in participating in a future Citizen Police Academy, please email Officer Karen Kowal at kkowal@villageofhinsdale.org.
