The Hinsdale Parks & Recreation Department is responsible for providing quality leisure services to Village residents and the maintenance of all Village Parks. Included in the Department are the following Divisions that are responsible for organizing, implementing and evaluating program services:

Recreation Services
Over 600 programs are offered by the Hinsdale Parks and Recreation Department annually. The year round activities are designed to meet the leisure interests of Hinsdale residents. Community Special Events organized by the department include the annual Holiday Express train excursion, Independence Day Parade, and Family Fall Fest. Outdoor summer concerts are also provided each year. The Village of Hinsdale is a member of the Gateway Special Recreation Association, which provides recreational opportunities for people with disabilities. Back to Top Parks Maintenance
Hinsdale is fortunate to have 122 acres of dedicated parkland at 18 sites. These parks provide facilities for baseball, tennis, jogging, picnicking, ice skating in the winter months, swimming, platform tennis, football, softball, soccer, and just plain sitting or walking in scenic open spaces. Back to Top The Lodge at Katherine Legge Memorial Park
Located in the picturesque setting of Katherine Legge Memorial Park, the Lodge at Katherine Legge Memorial Park is available for rent. Last year almost 30,000 people utilized the Lodge for close to 500 events, which included business meetings, family parties, wedding receptions, fundraisers, social events and Village-sponsored recreation programs. Open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, the Hinsdale Community Swimming Pool staff strives to provide a safe and enjoyable aquatic program for pool patrons. The Hinsdale Community Swimming Pool was renovated in 1993 by a voter-approved referendum and features a 50 meter pool with 25 year "L" shape design with depths from 3.5' to 5'; a diving pool with drop slide, 2 one-meter boards and 1 three-meter board; a zero edge walk-in wading pool with water play features and playground area; separate sunbathing area, bathhouse with locker rooms and coin operated lockers and concession area. Back to Top Parks and Recreation Commission The Hinsdale Parks and Recreation Commission provides recommendations and feedback related to planning and programs; special events; development and maintenance of parks; and reviews proposed budgets for these activities. The seven members are appointed by the Village President and serve three-year terms.
