Healthy Parks, Healthy Patients 5K
Improve local parks. Impact the lives of patients. Do both while working up a sweat! Join us for this inaugural 5k race on April 22, 2012. The course runs through the beautiful streets of Hinsdale and finishes in Katherine Legge Memorial Park with a family friendly post-race celebration.Proceeds benefit Hinsdale Parks and Recreation RML Specialty Hospital.

KLM Dog Hours & Restrictions

Unsure on the dog hours and restrictions for KLM? Download details here.

The Spring/Summer/Fall Hours (March 1st-Oct 31st) Are: 5:00 am - 9:00 am and 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm.

Individuals who violate the rules are subject to fines issued by the Hinsdale Police Department.

BURNS ICE RINK UPDATE

The Village needs approximately 4-6 consecutive full days of weather at or below 32 degree to begin building and freezing the rink, updates will be posted to our website and Facebook page regarding the opening date and condition of ice. Cross Country Sking at KLM

When the snow falls, cross country sking is permitted at Katherine Legge Memorial Park. The trails are not groomed. For your safety, please note the dog hours as dogs are permitted off leash in the park during posted hours.


Community Pool Information

2012 Hinsdale Community Pool memberships are now on sale! You can renew your membership on-line if you are renewing exactly the same type of membership. You can also get the membership form, rates and hours at the Parks and Recreation office. The pool opens on Saturday, May 26. The fees remain the same as 2011. Early bird rates end on April 30, so don’t delay. Watch for the summer brochure on April 12.

ATTENTION ALL KLM PICNIC PERMIT RENTERS

The South shelter renovations are now complete and both shelters will be available for rentals in 2012. Reservations for 2012 picnics will begin on February 1st for residents and March 1st for non-residents. Fees will be available in January. There will be different prices for each picnic area and non-resident fees will be higher. Watch the Parks and Recreation home page for a link to the new fees.

Over 600 programs are offered by the Hinsdale Park and Recreation Department annually. The year round activities are designed to meet the leisure interests of Hinsdale residents.

Community Special Events organized by the Department include the 4th of July Parade and Festival, Fall Family Festival, and one outdoor concert each year. Many other special events are also held throughout the year.

The Village of Hinsdale is a member of the Gateway Special Recreation Association. Current members have pooled resources to contract with the Ray Graham Association for People with Disabilities to provide recreational service for children and adults with disabilities.

Many programs are offered through Gateway including bowling, bike riding, Special Olympics training, swimming and tennis. Registration for camp and other Gateway programs is taken at the Anna Emery Hanson Center located at 59th and Garfield Streets.

For Families who wish to participate in more integrated programming through their local park and recreation departments, Ray Graham Staff are available to help act as a resource. This service is offered free to residents of Gateway SRA member communites. For more information please visit the Ray Graham Association for People with Disabilities website.
