On Saturday, April 30, 2016 from 10:00am-2:00pm, the Hinsdale Police Department will be collecting expired, unused, unwanted prescription and over the counter drugs for destruction.

Prescription drug abuse in the United States is increasing at an alarming rate, as is the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs. Many people do not know how to properly dispose of their unused medicines, often flushing them down the toilet or throwing them away - both are potential safety and health hazards.

The prescription drug take-back program is free and will be anonymous for all who participate. Participants may dispose of medication in its original container, but should remove any identifying information from the prescription label.  The medication may also be removed from its original container and disposed of directly in the disposal box.

The Hinsdale Police Department will not accept liquid products, intravenous solutions or syringes.

For more information on this free program, please contact Officer Michael Coughlin at 630-789-7084 or mcoughlin@villageofhinsdale.org.
