The Village of Hinsdale Fire Department is pleased to announce that their annual Fire Prevention Open House will be on Saturday, October 14th from 11am to 3pm at the Village's fire station - 121 Symonds Drive. As in the past few years, the Village of Hinsdale Police Department, which is attached to the fire station at 121 Symonds Drive, will also be open to residents and visitors.

The month of October is set aside to continue to enforce the importance of fire and life safety to all residents and visitors to Hinsdale. Residents are encouraged to review fire safety practices for everyone living at home as well as college age students who are now living in college housing units. The Village Fire Department continues to be recognized on both a State and National level for their efforts in helping to prevent fires and teach both adults and children the proper actions to be taken when fire breaks out. Hinsdale has one of the lowest dollar losses from fire in the nation and has not had a fatality from fire in over 35 years.

Come join the firefighters for an afternoon with an array of activities that both adults and children can enjoy and learn from. Activities include demonstrations of various firefighting equipment and apparatus, the fire safety trailer, and interactive programs for children conducted by both the firefighters and police officers in various safety practices.

The Fire Prevention Bureau has arranged for Fox Valley Fire and Safety to check your fire extinguishers, free of charge that you have in your home or small business. Should the check indicate that service is necessary; representatives will be on hand to answer any questions or assist you further in making sure that your fire extinguisher is properly maintained and serviceable. There is a three (3) fire extinguisher limit, per person. Residents can purchase new extinguishers or have ones serviced at this time.

Refreshments will be served. For further information, please contact the Fire Department at (630) 789-7060 or at fire@villageofhinsdale.org.
