INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION
"Let Freedom Ring"
Saturday, July 4, 2009


The Independence Day Parade will commence at Sixth and Garfield Streets, travels north on Garfield to First Street, West on First to Grant Street and south on Grant to Sixth Street where the Parade will disperse.

Independence Day Celebration Timetable


9:00 - 9:30 am: Registration and parade assembly for all participants
10:00 am: Parade steps off
11:00 am - 3:00 pm: Arts and Craft Fair at Burlington Park

Noon - 3:00 pm: Family Festival - West side of Washington St
~ Concessions
~ Moon Bounce
~ Petting Zoo
~ Games
~ Face painting
~ Pony rides
~ Inflatable attractions for children

Rotary Club of Hinsdale turtle races will be featured immediately following the parade.
The West Suburban Concert Band will be featured at 1:00 p.m.

Refreshments will be available and admission is FREE. Games and entertainment are available for the entire family!


In the interest of the safety of our children, and to prevent distractions of parade viewing, throwing of candy from parade participants and the crowd during the parade is prohibited. The use of any squirt guns or "super soakers" will also be prohibited. Solicitation of donations of any kind during the parade is strictly prohibited.

PARADE INFORMATION

In an effort to enhance the community's enjoyment of the Fourth of July Parade, we ask that all those watching the parade follow these few simple requests:

1. Use of water hoses, squirt guns or super soakers is not permitted during the parade. Please do not spray the people and vehicles in the parade with water or anything else.

2. Parade participants who are distributing candy and other items during the parade must do so by walking along the curb line - no candy is to be thrown from vehicles.

3. All participants must be pre-registered to participate. Registration deadline was Friday, June 19. No entries will be accepted the morning of the parade.

4. Garfield Street (between Hinsdale Ave & 55th Street) will close at 9:00 am. Participants in the Parade can be dropped off on either Washington or Park Street.

Remember: Fireworks are prohibited in the Village of Hinsdale according to Title 8, Chapter 4, Section 1 of the Hinsdale Village Code. (View the ordinance now)
