The
Hinsdale Village
Code defines an Historic Landmark as "any building,
structure, or site designated as a landmark by ordinance
of the Village Board that is worthy of rehabilitation,
restoration, and preservation because of its historic
and/or architectural significance to the Village."
Applications to designate
properties as historic landmarks receive a public
hearing before the Hinsdale Historic
Preservation Commission and are reviewed in accordance
with guidelines found in the Village code. The recommendation
of the Historic Preservation Commission is forwarded
to the Village Board of
Trustees for final consideration. If approved,
the adopting ordinance is recorded at the applicable
County Recorder's Office (most of Hinsdale is in DuPage
County, but the area east of County Line Road
is in
Cook County).
