PLAN COMMISSION TO CONDUCT HEARING ON
"HINSDALE 2020 - A STATEMENT OF
OBJECTIVES AND POLICIES"
This document was first created and adopted in 1965 and
has been revised throughout the years. The last revision
was made in 1989 when the current Zoning Code was adopted.
The document was intended to provide a framework for steering
public policy and for guiding legislative actions.
The
Board of Trustees began reviewing the document in the
fall of 2003 and requested that the Parks and Recreation,
Historic Preservation, Economic Development and Plan Commissions
review the document, make comments and report back to
the Board. In May of 2004, the Board of Trustees held
a Town Hall Meeting to further obtain input on the document
from the community.
Since
obtaining the public input, the Board of Trustees has
been reviewing and modifying the document accordingly.
The vision, value and mission statements for the public
hearing were developed at a January 15, 2005 visioning
session attended by the Board of Trustees, Advisory Commission
Chairmen, representatives of District 86, District 181,
Hinsdale Public Library and residents. There are 5 sections
to the document with 7 subsections found in the Guiding
Policies and Objectives of the document which include:
village boundaries; allocation of land; village character
and appearance; village entrances; economic development;
local government services; village administration; and
relationship between citizens and village government.
