The
Historic Preservation Commission consists of nine members
who are appointed by the Village President to serve three-year
terms.
The purpose of the Commission is to assist the Village
Board in the preservation, protection, enhancement, rehabilitation,
reconstruction, or use of historic structures, sites,
or areas in the Village, and to educate the residents
of the Village regarding the importance of historic preservation.
The Commission reviews and recommends to the Village Board
requests for property to be designated as a landmark or
the creation of an historic district. The Commission also
issues certificates of appropriateness for exterior alterations
to building designated as landmarks or located within
an historic district.
The Historic Preservation Commission meets on the second
Tuesday of each month. Special meetings are scheduled
as needed.
