The
Village of Hinsdale's stormwater management permitting
activities are under the aegis of the DuPage County
Department of Development and Stormwater. Periodically
the Department audits and reviews community programs
and reports its finding to the DuPage County Stormwater
Management Committee. The auditors concluded Hinsdale
exceeds the County requirements in August (1999).
The Committee presented the award to the Village of
Hinsdale.
The National Arbor Day Foundation has named the Village
of Hinsdale a "TREE CITY USA." This designation is
a confirmation of the Village of Hinsdale's commitment
to preserving its trees, The National Arbor Day Foundation
recognizes those communities that effectively manage
their public tree resources. In order to be name a
TREE CITY USA each community must meet four standards
that provide structure for a community forestry program,
require that the program demonstrate success based
on the state forester's judgment, and provide for
an awareness and appreciation of trees among the residents
of the community.
